The Minsc Initial Training Network (ITN) is made up of world-class partners such as universities and industrial partners of high-level located in the United Kingdom, France, Denmark, Iceland, Germany, Norway and Italy. Main objectives of the project are to provide opportunities for research and training to young people in basic research and specialized projects collaborations.

Training will be characterized by the association of research at molecular level with studies related to industrial processes. The ultimate goal is to better understand some of the issues of great importance related to fuels, geothermal and food processing industries.

In order to achieve the goal, the project will combine basic training and expert researchers in state-of-the-art techniques of mineral formations and characterizations, both in laboratory and industrial environments, with research objectives that aim to quantify the nucleation and growth systems of different minerals: carbonates, sulfates / sulfides, oxalates and silicates.

The scaling can often be delayed through inhibitors, but their role in influencing the rates of formation of these minerals in solution (on surfaces as well as in industrial environments (eg, tubes, cores, etc.), is unknown. The industrial goal is dual, since it tends to understand what leads to the precipitation of a series of minerals ranges causing a mass decrease in terms of efficiency and costs increasing for industrial processes (eg, production of oil and gas, geothermal energy, beer), and to develop processes / inhibitors that can help and mitigate and / or prevent the formation of incrustations in such environments.
